NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Comedian Rob Riggle has been hired to replace Rob Corddry as a fake news correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

Riggle made the announcement on his own Web site, posting: "I start this fall, and I couldn't be more excited about it! I love 'The Daily Show,' and it's a total honor to be part of it!," the New York Post reported Monday.

Corddry made his last appearance on the "The Daily Show" at the end of August, becoming the latest cast member to leave in search of individual stardom -- in this case, his Fox TV sitcom, "The Winner" and a role in the indy film, "The Ten."

Stephen Colbert has found success with "The Colbert Report," which follows "The Daily Show" each weekday night on Comedy Central and Steve Carell has become a household name with the hit film "The 40-Year Old Virgin" and his lead role in NBC's Emmy-winning comedy, "The Office."
