'Sgt. Pepper' voted Britain's fave album

LONDON, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- British music fans have crowned the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" as their favorite album of all time.

The 1967 Fab Four classic received only 201 more nods than Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in a poll of 220,000 music fans taken by BBC Radio 2, icWales reported Tuesday.

The No. 3 album in the poll celebrating the 50th anniversary of Britain's music charts was U2's "Joshua Tree" followed by Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" in the fourth slot.

The Beatles had four other albums in the top 12 -- "Revolver" at No. 6, "Abbey Road" at No. 8, "The White Album" at No. 10 and "Rubber Soul" in the No. 11 slot.
