Palestinian band's Hezbollah song a hit

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A song in praise of Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has propelled a little-known Palestinian band to rock stardom.

Alaa Abul Heijah, leader of Firkat Ishaman and who wrote the song "The Hawk of Lebanon," told The Washington Times, "The song has brought us fame. Palestinian people are interested in talking about people that fight for their cause. Hassan Nasrallah is that person." Since that song, the band has started performing almost every day, says the report.

It said a survey by the Ramallah-based Near East Consulting Group showed 97 percent of Palestinians support Nasrallah. There are newspaper reports of couples naming newborns Hassan or Nasrallah.

Abul Heijah's song has been played on Hezbollah's Al Manar television station but not yet on Arab satellite channels, says the report.
