Sanz tops likely 'SNL' departures

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz and Kenan Thompson are rumored to be the "Saturday Night Live" cast members let go by the New York comedy program, E! Online says.

Thompson, Sanz and Parnell have all been mentioned as being among three "SNL" cast members being dropped from the NBC comedy's cast due to budget cuts as it enters its 32nd season in September, said E! Online.

The notable absence of the three comedians next season will be significantly increased due to the fact that series veterans Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch both decided to leave the long-running sketch comedy series this summer to pursue a new TV venue.

Added to that, The New York Post reported that Maya Rudolph, another veteran of the series, has also been considering leaving the series.

The Web site said that "SNL" executive Lorne Michaels has responded to the departing cast members by promoting Seth Meyers to head writer and continuing negotiations with Darrell Hammond, who is now the series' longest tenured cast member.
