Christina Aguilera debuts at No. 1

NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Christina Aguilera's new double CD "Back to Basics" leads a charge of debuts in the top five slots of The Billboard 200 at No. 1.

It is Aguilera's first No. 1 album since her 1999 self-titled debut, it also marks the most sales in the first week for a solo female artist since Mary J. Blige's "The Breakthrough," Billboard.com reported Wednesday.

Lyfe Jennings debuts at No. 2 with his sophomore album "The Phoenix," while Trace Adkins "Dangerous Man" is No. 3. Sister act Cherish is No. 4 with "Underappreciated," and Disney's "The Cheetah Girls 2" soundtrack is No. 5.

The "NOW 22" compilation drops from No. 3 to No. 6 in its sixth week on the chart and Rick Ross' "Port of Miami" falls to No. 7 after debuting at No.1 last week.

Rapper Obie Trice's "Second Round's on Me" debuts at No. 8 while the soundtrack to "Step Up" falls to No. 9.

Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons" sits tight at No. 10 for the third week in a row.

Overall CD sales are up 2 percent from last week at 9.57 million units and down 7 percent compared to a year ago. The year's sales are down 7 percent from 2005 at 335.02 million CD's.
