'Saturday Night Live' loses six members

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- NBC's "Saturday Night Live" has some changes ahead as four of its cast members are being fired and two others have left the show.

The names of the fired cast members have not been revealed to the public, the only thing that's certain is that it won't be Tina Fey or Rachel Dratch who have already left the show to star in the new "SNL" based comedy "30 Rock," The New York Post reported Tuesday.

Fey's project isn't the only new show to use "SNL" as a backdrop, Aaron Sorkin's new drama "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" will also use the variety show on which to base itself.

The boss of "SNL" Lorne Michaels, is also producing "30 Rock."

"The history of 'SNL' has been that people step up," Michaels told the Post. "It's just been that way, at least so far. I think there are people there now who are going to be brilliant."

Seth Myers, who shared the head writing job on the show with Fey for years, is expected to become the show's sole head writer.
