Rumors of OutKast breakup exaggerated

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Andre 3000 and Big Boi, partners in the Grammy-winning hip-hop duo OutKast, are denying Internet rumors that they are breaking up the band.

The partners have not been seen together in a video recently, and have no plans to perform as a pair, but Andre "3000" Benjamin said, "Everything is still tight, most definitely."

Both have performed recently as solo artists on separate videos, which might have started the rumors.

Benjamin performs in "Idelwild Blue (Don'tchu Worry 'Bout Me)" and Big Boi Patton on "Morris Brown." They haven't released "Mighty O" where they rap together, simply because they haven't found the best way to do it, mtv.com reported.

There were reports the two turned down an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," but Benjamin said that wouldn't have fit in with the release of their new movie, "Idlewild."

"Next thing we see on the Internet is, 'OutKast turns down Oprah,'" Benjamin said.

He said the reason they haven't been seen publicly is that they are working on new music.

"Idlewild" and an album of the same name are set for release during the last week of August, the duo said on their Web site.
