Officials seek to mute Beckhams' reveling

LONDON, July 26 (UPI) -- Soccer star David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, are in trouble for a loud Sunday night party at the couple's British estate.

There were 500 guests at the pre-World Cup soiree in May, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

Music blaring over loud speakers well into the night had neighbors jamming the local council's hotline with complaints.

"Perhaps if it was a Friday or Saturday night we could have let this pass," one neighbor told the Mail. "But it was a Sunday and unlike many of the guests at the party, we had work to go to the next day and the noise was terrible."

Victoria Beckham's father, Tony Adams, and the party planner hired for the event were called before the village environmental heath committee, where they were grilled for up to an hour, the newspaper said.

The end result was a decision to send officials to any future Beckham party to monitor the noise levels and "protect the interests of residents," said minutes from a recent meeting.
