LOS ANGELES, July 25 (UPI) -- Tom Petty says the title of his third solo album, "Highway Companion," reflects the music found within.
"I think it's the kind of record that's really nice if you're alone in a car," said Petty, whose last solo set, "Wildflowers," came out in 1994. "It's not a real high-octane album, a super energy album, but it plays very nice if you're traveling.
"And there's a lot of songs that mention driving, traveling, passing of time. There's a lot of different highways to go down in life. It just hit me as a nice title for the thing."
Petty, who plays most of the instruments on "Highway Companion" -- including drums -- is currently on tour with his band, the Heartbreakers, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the group's first album. Film director Peter Bogdanovich is accompanying the tour for a Petty documentary he's preparing.
