Sammy Hagar lives it up on new album

DETROIT, July 25 (UPI) -- Detroit rock veteran Sammy Hagar intended his new album, "Livin' It Up," to be "a lifestyle record" that provides "a manual for the way I live."

"You can live like me," says the former Van Halen and Montrose singer, who also runs a tequila brand and clubs in Mexico and Nevada, all known as Cabo Wabo. "You don't have to be rich and famous; you just need to consolidate your time so that you can spend as much quality time doing the things you want to do."

"This album tells you how to do that," Hagar said.

In addition to his own songs, "Livin' It Up" features covers of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35," Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" and the Staple Singers' "Let Me Take You There."

Hagar is promoting "Livin' It Up" on his summer tour, which also features a set of Van Halen songs performed as The Other Half with the band's bassist, Michael Anthony.
