Rosario Dawson in 'Clerks II'

NEW YORK, July 25 (UPI) -- Actress Rosario Dawson is back in the new comedy "Clerks II," a sequel that takes place 10 years after the original 1994 "Clerks" film.

"Clerks" became a Generation X classic, it spawned a cult industry that included cartoon and a comic book series, CBS reported Tuesday.

Dawson told Harry Smith on "The Early Show" that director Kevin Smith, who also directed the original "Clerks," was surprised when she agreed to appear in "Clerks II."

She said she found it "so funny. I was so excited that he would even ask me to do it. I've been a big fan of his for a long time."

"Clerks II" is set in a fast-food restaurant, and Dawson plays the clerks' boss. The comedy has a very racy plot, said CBS.

"It's a raunchy comedy, for sure. It has a lot of heart, I have to say. It's a lot more touching (than 'Clerks'), surprisingly, I think, for even the most rabid fans are going to be very surprised by how moving it is," said Dawson.
