LONDON, July 25 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer Janet Jackson could not confirm during an interview with Britain's Choice FM Radio that she was engaged to rapper-producer Jermaine Dupri.
"That's what he said. He, um... that's... everyone's been asking me about this," Jackson said. "He said something about Sept. 26 we were getting married."
When asked by the disc jockey to clarify, she laughed, saying, "That's the date the album comes out! Sept. 26."
Jackson's newest CD, "20 Years Old" will be released Sept. 26, People reported.
"So if... I don't know... And if it's meant to happen, it'll happen," she said.
Jackson, 40, and Dupri, 33, have been dating five years.
She told reporters at a news conference Friday, "Being with Jermaine has really changed my life... I always wanted to find love," she said. "Now that I found love, I'm in a different space."
Dupri has said the couple were putting their music first. "I am trying to make sure that she returns and her career soars the way it is supposed to, and we live happily ever after," Dupri said.
