CHICAGO, July 12 (UPI) -- Comcast has begun offering Chicago customers a bundled package of phone, video and Internet service for $99 per month.
The city's dominant cable TV company made the announcement Tuesday in an attempt to gain a lead over AT&T Inc., which aims to offer video services this year, the Chicago Tribune reported.
"Others talk about trials and plans for the future, but our product is available right now," said Comcast Senior Vice President Joseph Stackhouse.
"Right now $100 a month seems to be the point everyone's trying to hit," said Jeff Kagan, an Atlanta telecom industry analyst.
AT&T signed a deal with North Chicago to make that suburb the first in the Chicago area to receive its new bundled services.
Verizon Communications Inc. began Tuesday to sell bundled service of phone, Internet and satellite TV to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio for $101 a month.
"We believe that in the marketplace right now, this is the right price point," Stackhouse said.
