Sean Lennon releases 'Friendly Fire' album

HOLLYWOOD, July 12 (UPI) -- Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, is releasing his second album, "Friendly Fire," on Capitol Records in Hollywood.

In the eight years since he released his first album, "Into the Sun," the 30-year-old musician has stayed out of the spotlight -- although he has been actively involved in projects with Ben Lee, Thurston Moore and Ryan Adams, as well as with his mother.

After releasing "Into the Sun," Lennon said in a statement, he became "disillusioned with the machinery of the industry." He never stopped playing, but did so more "discreetly."

"'Friendly Fire' is an experiment to see what it might be like to do music more publicly again," Lennon said.

A short film accompanies the album, which has a trailer on Sean Lennon's Web site. Lindsay Lohan, Bijou Philips, Asia Argento, Carrie Fisher, Devon Aoki and Jordana Brewster all appear in the short about love and its limitations. Lennon plays different characters, including a swordsman and a clerk at a skate-rental shop.

Lennon said he liked the idea of a film because "music is invisible."
