NEW YORK, July 9 (UPI) -- Retired actor Donald Buka has filed in suit in New York claiming he was beaten and ejected from a Broadway theater.
The suit filed by Buka, 86, in New York Supreme Court claims he was helping a 76-year-old friend who uses a cane find his seat at the Broadhurst Theatre's Tony Award-winning production of "History Boys" when he was confronted by ushers, the New York Post reported Sunday.
Buka's suit said he was standing in the back row of the theater and not obstructing anyone's view when ushers forcibly ejected him.
However, the Shubert Organization, which owns the Broadhurst, told the Post city police were called after Buka disrupted the performance by having an altercation with another patron.
Shubert President Peter Entin said any violence that happened was between Buka and the police, not the theater's staff.
Buka's suit seeks $300,000 in punitive damages against the Shubert Organization.
