Pasadena theater named for Carrie Hamilton

PASADENA, Calif., July 7 (UPI) -- The Pasadena Playhouse in California will rename its Balcony Theater the Carrie Hamilton Theater after comedian Carol Burnett's daughter, who died at age 38.

Hamilton was a playwright, musician, writer and actress, who appeared in television shows, including "90210" and the "X-Files." She died of brain and lung cancer in 2002, TV.com said.

The theater is undergoing a $1 million renovation, with the funds already raised. A ceremony to officially name the venue is scheduled for July 17 with Burnett, friends and donors, Daily Variety reported.

An additional $1.5 million will underwrite the Carrie Hamilton Young Artists Outreach Program to support the Allies in Art partnership with area schools, New Generations Program for at-risk youth and Theater For Families, the newspaper said.
