Born the youngest of 10 in Barcelona, Spain, Rodriguez spent his musical career touring worldwide and performing in the world's great concert halls.

"He didn't retire until 75 because sitting around the house wasn't him," his eldest son, Manuel Rodriguez, said. "Then he would go down and sit in on rehearsals and meet with his buddies. (PSO home) Heinz Hall and the orchestra were his life."

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Manuel and Jorge.
