Vardalos contemplating 'Big Fat' sequel

LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) -- Actress/writer Nia Vardalos is considering a sequel to "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," her breakout 2002 comedy.

Coming off the box-office disappointment of her "Wedding" follow-up, "Connie and Carla," Vardalos says she has been toying with the idea of revisiting the film concept that made her a star in Hollywood, Moviehole.net reported.

"I ran out of ideas, so I took some time off," Vardalos said. "I waited and finally some ideas came to me and I've started writing again."

She stopped short of promising a sequel to "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," which grossed $241.4 million and earned Vardalos an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.

"I'm not saying there will for sure be a sequel," she said, "but I'm not saying there will for sure not be a sequel."

Vardalos is working with Tim Roth and Daryl Hannah on the upcoming Marilyn Manson film "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll."
