"Baby Doll" -- written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Elia Kazan -- was the story of a middle-aged cotton gin owner who had to wait for the 20th birthday of his childish bride before he could consummate the marriage. A business rival suspects the groom has burned down his business, and uses the young wife to get his revenge.

The 1956 film almost went unreleased due to a boycott by the U.S. Roman Catholic Church organization The Legion of Decency, which called it immoral.
