Fans can vote for 'Big Brother'

LOS ANGELES, June 19 (UPI) -- The summer TV show "Big Brother" plans to air a casting episode in which fans of the show can vote for this season's participants.

When the new season premieres Wednesday, viewers will be asked to vote on CBS.com for 12 of the 20 former show contestants they want to participate this year, the New York Daily News reports.

The three men and three women with the most votes will make the cut for the all-star edition of the show, while the show's producers will choose who will take the remaining six slots.

The show's producers have also promised that this season will hold new challenges for its contestants.

"There are changes in terms of the challenges, in terms of how hard it is to live in this house," executive producer Allison Grodner told the Daily News. "This is not your mama's 'Big Brother.' It's going to have more edge than it has in the past."

The first episode of the contestants in the home is scheduled to air on July 6.
