Thinkfilm buys rights to 'Shortbus'

CHICAGO, June 16 (UPI) -- ThinkFilm has bought the North American rights to the film "Shortbus," which shocked and surprised audiences at the Cannes film festival with graphic sexuality.

"Shortbus" is John Cameron Mitchell's follow-up to his successful film adaptation of his stage hit "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," Zap2it.com reported Friday.

The film "explores the lives of several characters living in present-day New York as they navigate the comic and tragic intersections between love and sex."

"It was a difficult process assessing all of the excellent and aggressive offers we received, but Think's success with challenging material and their passion won us over," the filmmakers said in a statement. "We're thrilled to work with the most daring and imaginative company around."
