Gary Glitter loses appeal

HO CHI MINH, Vietnam, June 15 (UPI) -- British rock star Gary Glitter has lost his appeal in Vietnam against his conviction for sexually abusing two 11-year-old girls.

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, was accused of kissing, fondling and "engaging in other physical acts" with the girls at his rented villa in the seaside city of Vung Tau, the Bangkok Post reported Thursday.

He was sentenced to three years in jail.

"We did not see enough evidence to reduce the penalty for the defendant," chief judge Truong Vinh Thuy said in the Post report. "The decision was made based on evidence, documents and testimony of the victims."
