LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- Actor Kevin Kline has done his share of dramatic roles, but for "A Prairie Home Companion," now in U.S. theaters, he drew on his comic side.
Kline plays the "suave" security guard Guy Noir director Robert Altman's film -- a role that allows him to play the kind of physical comedy he used in his Oscar-winning turn as Otto, the quirky thief in "A Fish Called Wanda."
"I do tend toward a comedic worldview -- in life, I have too much of a desire to be funny at times, and that sometimes gets in the way," Kline told the New York Daily News, "When people want you to be serious, I've always responded the opposite way."
Yet comedy was not always part of Kline's plan, as he graduated in the first drama class from The Juilliard School. From there he moved on to repertory theater and Broadway, before eventually moving on to film.
