Povich asks court to dismiss suit

NEW YORK, May 19 (UPI) -- TV talk show host Maury Povich and NBC Universal have asked a New York court to dismiss the $100 million lawsuit filed by a producer for his show.

Bianca Nardi, 28, filed the sexual harassment suit claiming she was forced to bare her breasts, wear sexy clothes and flirt with married men as part of her job. She also claimed in the suit that Povich, Connie Chung's husband, was having an affair with another married producer.

In Manhattan Supreme Court papers released Thursday, attorneys for NBC Universal and Povich claim the issue belongs in private arbitration instead of a courtroom, The New York Daily News reported Friday.

Nardi's attorney, Bruce Baron, told The Daily News his client has a "constitutional right to obtain justice in a court of law."

"I think it is ironic that defendants ... want this dispute to be aired privately in some back room," Baron said.

Neither Povich, 66, or Chung, 59, have commented on the suit's lurid allegations.
