Clear Channel urged to help sex abuse fund

NEW YORK, N.Y., May 15 (UPI) -- A New York city councilman says Clear Channel should make a charitable donation for letting one of its DJs rant for a week about raping a 4-year-old girl.

Councilman John Liu said the owner of Power 105.1 should donate $5 million to the Megan Nicole Kanka Foundation for Troi "DJ Star" Torain's comments about tracking down and raping the daughter of a radio rival, the New York Post reported Monday.

"Clear Channel thought it fit to broadcast a pedophile's fantasy, so I think it's only fair and appropriate for them to cough up $5 million," Liu said Sunday.

Torain was fired from his $17 million job Wednesday and arrested Friday for making the rap threats and offering $500 to the first listener to tell him what school the little girl attended. After his arrest, he compared himself to comic Lenny Bruce, who constantly ran afoul with the law on obscenity charges back in the 1960s, The Post said.

The Megan Kanka Foundation was named after a New Jersey girl who was killed by her neighbor, who was a convicted sex offender.
