Jewel surveys her life on new album

STEPHENVILLE, Texas, May 2 (UPI) -- Jewel says her newly released seventh album, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland," is a "bookend" to her debut album, 1995's "Pieces of You."

"It was a similar time in my life," explains the Utah-born singer-songwriter, who's listed as one of People magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People. "I was turning 20 during my first record, and on this record, I was turning 30.

"My life has changed, and I was able to come full circle and kind of live my life in a way that I did in the beginning ... the process and the thought process and the emotional process that I was in was really similar."

Jewel resides in Stephenville, Texas, with her boyfriend, rodeo champion Ty Murray

"Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" is Jewel's first release since "0304" in 2003. She performs Tuesday night on NBC's "The Tonight Show" and kicks off a tour with Rob Thomas on May 23 in Clearwater, Fla.
