Zellweger attends Beatrix Potter ceremony

HAWKSHEAD, England, April 24 (UPI) -- Actress Renee Zellweger -- starring in a Beatrix Potter film being shot on location in England -- helped dedicate a statue in honor of the author.

The 15-foot bronze sculpture of three children along with characters from all 23 of the author's beloved stories was unveiled Sunday at the World of Beatrix Potter in Hawkshead, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

"Arriving in the Lake District is like the culmination of the journey we've been on these past few weeks," Zellweger said. "It brings the whole 'Miss Potter' story to life, to be in the places where Beatrix lived.

"I hope that the sculpture will become a distinctive local landmark and give enjoyment to visitors to the Lake District."

"Miss Potter," also starring Ewan McGregor, Anton Lesser, Bill Paterson and Emily Watson, is scheduled for 2007 theatrical release.
