National Registry adds 50 recordings

WASHINGTON, April 12 (UPI) -- Rock 'n' roll is well represented in the latest 50 recordings added to the National Recording Registry by the U.S. Library of Congress.

Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill," Jerry Lee Lewis' "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Are You Experienced?", Buddy Holly's "That'll Be the Day," Frank Zappa's "We're Only in it for the Money" and Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation" were among the songs deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically important and/or inform or reflect life in the United States," the Library announced Tuesday.

Also included in this year's list were Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the Key of Life," the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Oh Happy Day" by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, B.B. King's "Live at the Regal," Martha and the Vandellas' "Dancing in the Street" and Roy Acuff's "Wabash Cannonball."
