New Soul Asylum album out in July

MINNEAPOLIS, April 7 (UPI) -- After eight years, the wait for a new album is nearly over for Soul Asylum fans, it was reported Friday.

"Silver Lining," the band's long-awaited studio album, is due to hit U.S. store shelves on July 11, Billboard.com reported.

The album includes some of the final work of bassist Karl Mueller, who died of throat cancer last June, Billboard noted.

"It will always remind me of Karl when I listen to it," guitarist Dan Murphy said. "He was really sick, but still pulled through and finished it in Soul Asylum fashion."

Drummer Michael Bland and Replacements' bassist Tommy Stinson appear on some tracks of the new album and will accompany Murphy and frontman Dave Pirner when Soul Asylum tours in support of the album.
