John Travolta has been cast as J.R., Jennifer Lopez is playing his long-suffering wife, Sue Ellen; Luke Wilson was tapped as Bobby Ewing and Shirley MacLaine is the family matriarch, Miss Ellie.

The film was supposed to start shooting this summer with a Nov. 10 release, but without a director, filming has been pushed back to October with the release up in the air.

Betty Thomas, director of "Doctor Doolittle" and "I Spy" has reportedly been mentioned as a possible replacement for Luketic.
