Roberts boosts Broadway numbers

NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) -- The first week of preview performances of Julia Roberts' Broadway debut, "Three Days of Rain," grossed nearly $1 million, it was reported Monday.

The play starring Roberts, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper, grossed $988,298 in eight performances last week, New York's Newsday reported.

Each preview performance had 101 percent capacity, including standing room, the League of American Theatres and Producers reported. The Richard Greenberg play opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on April 19.

Several shows were either at capacity or better last week, including "Wicked," "Monty Python's Spamalot," "The Pajama Game," "The Odd Couple" and "The Phantom of the Opera."
