Music Rising benefits from ticket auction

NASHVILLE, March 28 (UPI) -- Tickets to more than 80 concerts across the United States will go up for bid to raise money for Music Rising, it was reported Tuesday.

Music Rising is the fund created by U2 guitarist the Edge, music producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Chairman Henry Juszkiewicz to replace instruments lost by Gulf Coast musicians to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

About 60 artists along with Ticketmaster, Live Nation, House of Blues, AEG Live and Nederlander Concerts will participate in the fundraising event that starts Saturday, Billboard reported.

"It's been incredible to see the way these people who are in competition with one another are getting together on this," the Edge told Billboard. "It really speaks very well of the industry and people's understanding and grasp of the scale of this problem."

Just a few of the shows up for grabs are Queensryche, Nine Inch Nails, Def Leppard/Journey, New Cars/Blondie, Melissa Etheridge, Brad Paisley and the Warped tour.

In addition to tickets, most of the auctions will include autographed guitars by the artists, Billboard said.
