Former Boyzone singer weds partner

LONDON, March 20 (UPI) -- Former Boyzone singer Stephen Gately and his longtime companion, Andy Cowles, have tied the knot in London, it was reported Monday.

Gately and Cowles exchanged vows Sunday in a civil partnership ceremony at the Goring Hotel, the BBC reported. Former Boyzone mates Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch were among the guests attending the ceremony.

Gately joined the Irish boy band in 1993. The band scored six No. 1 hits until it broke up in 1999, including "Words," "No Matter What" and "All That I Need."

Gatley pursued a solo career but was dropped from his record label in 2001.
