Trump adds fuel to Stewart feud

NEW YORK, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Donald Trump delivered more criticism of Martha Stewart Wednesday, escalating a war of words over the cancellation of her "Apprentice" spinoff.

Trump -- who told the New York Daily News this week he was disappointed that Stewart didn't "take responsibility for her failure" -- told the TV tabloid show "Extra" Wednesday that Stewart's version of "The Apprentice" failed because of Stewart.

"I never saw her show until it aired," he said. "Her show just didn't work. It didn't work because of her and the temperament and the mood and everything else."

Trump said he was Stewart's "single best cheerleader," but he claimed she never thanked him for supporting her. He said Stewart owes him an apology, but he doesn't expect one.

Stewart told Newsweek magazine her show was doomed from the beginning, when plans were vetoed for her to "fire" Trump during her prime time debut.

"Having two 'Apprentices' was as unfair to him as it was unfair to me," Stewart told Newsweek. "But Donald really wanted to stay on."
