Nickelback grabs six Juno nods

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Nickelback grabbed six nods to lead the pack of nominees for the 35th annual Juno Awards from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

The rock band was nominated as group of the year and its album, "All the Right Reasons," received an album of the year nod, CTV reported Thursday.

Crooners Diana Krall and Michael Buble each received five nominations and will compete in the artist of the year category. Krall has been nominated a total 16 times and has six Junos on her mantle.

Arcade Fire, Neil Young, the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and "Canadian Idol" Kalan Porter each garnered three nominations each.

First-time nominees with nods in two categories include Bedouin Soundclash, Boom Desjardins, Divine Brown, Hedley, Jonas, Rex Goudie, Roberto Occhipinti and Russell Broom.

Also receiving dual nods were Blue Rodeo, Christopher Mills, Garnet Armstrong, Jann Arden, Kathleen Edwards, k-os, Our Lady Peace and Theory of a Deadman.

U.S. artists nominated for the sales-based international album of the year award were 50 Cent, the Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson along with Britain's Coldplay.

The Juno Awards will be broadcast live April 2 on CTV.
