LONDON, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Kaiser Chiefs took three Brit Awards in London Wednesday night including the prizes for best British band and best rock act.
Coldplay won best British album and single, James Blunt was named best pop act and best British male and U.S. punk rockers Green Day won best international group and best international album for "American Idiot," during the ceremony at Earl's Court in West London, the BBC reported.
The Arctic Monkeys won the British breakthrough award, K.T. Tunstall was named the best British female singer, Madonna was honored as best international female artist and Kanye West took home the prize as best international male artist.
Lemar was named best urban act and U.S. singer/songwriter Jack Johnson was named international breakthrough act.
Despite being nominated in two categories, the British virtual band, Gorillaz, went home empty handed.
