Conan O'Brien meets with Finnish president

HELSINKI, Finland, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien was described as nervous before meeting with his Finnish Doppelganger, President Tarja Halonen, in Helsinki.

But the ice was quickly broken between the two redheads Tuesday and O'Brien emerged from his 20-minute audience at the Presidential Palace with plush toys for his children and "some delicious film material for his future TV shows," Helsingin Sanomat reported Wednesday.

Presidential press secretary Maria Romantschuk said a good portion of the meeting between the two centered around their resemblance to each other. Halonen reportedly asked the comic which parent he looked most like and also about his two young children, she said.

O'Brien also met with another of Finland's top personalities, the newspaper said, but it was not known what he talked about with Santa Claus in Lapland.

O'Brien flew home to New York Wednesday to start going through film from his five-day vacation to Finland, which will be broadcast on his NBC show when it returns from the Winter Olympics break.
