KARACHI, Pakistan, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Canadian rocker Bryan Adams was in Karachi, Pakistan, Sunday to perform a charity concert for survivors of the devastating October earthquake.
Adams is the first Western entertainer to play in Pakistan since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. He decided to make the trip even though the U.S. State Department has advised against traveling to the South Asian nation, the BBC reported.

"We are going to raise a lot of money to hopefully help rebuild some schools in the areas that have been devastated," Adams said.
The Oct. 8 earthquake killed more than 73,000 people and left millions homeless. About 20,000 tickets were sold for the Sunday night concert.
