NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A spokesman for David Letterman says the CBS "Late Show" host has no intention of stepping down in the near future.
"Dave has no plans to retire," Steven Rubenstein of Letterman's Worldwide Pants told E! Online.
Letterman, 58, recently remarked to guest Albert Brooks that he had "two or three years" to go on the show, sparking speculation he was considering retirement, E! said.
But an industry source told the cable network's Web site that Letterman is in talks about a contract extension.
Letterman jumped from NBC to CBS in 1993 and he signed another three year contract with a reported two-year option in 2002, E! said.
