LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Peter Berg will write and executive produce a TV version of his film "Friday Night Lights," it was reported Wednesday.
The project was picked up on contingency last fall but NBC has lifted that now and given a firm go-ahead for the pilot, Daily Variety reported.

Berg directed the film following the life of a high school football coach in a small Texas town.
Meanwhile, over at CBS, actor/comedian Paul Reiser is writing and executive producing a comedy about a New York car dealer.
Reiser is best known to TV viewers for his starring role in the sitcom "Mad About You."
