HBO wants a fourth season of 'Deadwood'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- HBO's "Deadwood" hasn't started its third season yet, but there were reports Friday the oater would stick around at least through season four.

HBO was close to clinching the fourth season deal with "Deadwood" creator-executive producer David Milch, Daily Variety said.

The news came amid production of the third season's 12 episodes, scheduled to start airing in June.

Milch has a two-year production deal with HBO that includes "Deadwood" as well as new projects. One show he's working on is based on the real-life experiences of his former "NYPD Blue" collaborator Bill Clark, Variety said.
