Suspect arrested in Tennyson slaying

LONDON, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A 44-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the London stabbing and beating death of the great-grandson of poet Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Hallam Tennyson, 85, was found dead last week from head injuries and stab wounds at his flat in north London.

No details were released about the suspect, who was being questioned by police, the Telegraph reported.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Nash, who is leading the investigation, described the death of the former BBC executive as "a brutal attack on an elderly and vulnerable man."
