New Jersey honors the boss with plates

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- New Jersey lawmakers are honoring rocker Bruce Springsteen with "Born to Run" license plates that will benefit one of his favorite charities.

For every $50 "Born to Run" license plate issued, $10 will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, which Springsteen has long supported, E! Online reported Friday.

New Jersey state Sen. Raymond Lesniak introduced the proposal Thursday, calling Springsteen "not only a national hero, but worldwide hero."

After singing along to Springsteen's version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," the Senate overwhelmingly approved the tribute in a voice vote, E! said.
