Plea deal reported in Vibe Awards stabbing

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A deal has been reached in the case of rapper Young Buck, who was charged with stabbing a man who punched Dr. Dre at last year's Vibe Awards.

Attorney Scott Leemon told MTV.com the case had been "favorably resolved" with the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, but details will not be released until a hearing Dec. 12, the day David Darnell Brown's jury trial was to have begun.

Brown, 24, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing Jimmy James Johnson during the second annual Vibe Awards last November. Johnson pleaded guilty in September for punching Dre and was sentenced to one year in jail and three years probation.

Young Buck pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been free on $500,000 bail.
