Yoko to sing at Lennon birthday concert

TOKYO, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Yoko Ono will mark the 65th birthday of her slain husband, John Lennon, with a memorial concert in Japan.

Ono, 72, told the BBC Wednesday she will be "embarrassed and thrilled" to sing Beatles' songs Friday at Tokyo's Nippon Budokan hall -- the same place the Fab Four made their Japan debut in 1966.

Part of the proceeds from the concert will go to charities in Africa and Asia.

Lennon was shot to death outside the couple's New York apartment building in December 1980.
