NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Rapper Cam'ron has filed a federal lawsuit in New York claiming R. Kelly took sole credit and all the money for a song they did together in 2003.
Cam'ron wrote part of the introduction and the entire third verse of the "Snake" remix, but the video collection "R. Kelly: The R. in R&B" did not have his name in the copyright, the suit says. The suit also says the song has been used in several other formats like ringtones without his permission.
A rep for Cam'ron told MTV News the two are still friends and the lawsuit was business, not personal.
"It's a very small dispute that seems to have gotten out of hand," Kelly's spokesperson Allan Mayer told MTV. "We expect it to be resolved shortly."
The suit seeks unspecified damages and attorney's fees and wants Kelly to account for "all gains, profits and advantages" made from marketing the song.
