U2 starting to think about next album

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- U2 is beginning to think about its next album even though the rock band is still on tour promoting 2004's Grammy-winning "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb."

Guitarist "The Edge," in fact, has already started working on new musical ideas for "...Atomic Bomb's" successor.

"I've got a sort of recording rig on the road with me," he says, "and I'm trying to work up some new ideas, some of which are starting to sound pretty interesting. So we've got a bit of a jump on it. I would hope it'll be sooner rather than later.

"I'm quite excited about some new innovations I'm working on. I think we'll just have to take it to the band now and see what sticks."

U2 will be on the road with its "Vertigo" world tour until mid-December. The group will be releasing a concert DVD, "Veritgo 2005: Live From Chicago," Nov. 15.

U2 will also appear on the Live 8 DVD, which comes out Nov. 8.
