Jeffre loses, 98 Degrees fans win

CINCINNATI, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Justin Jeffre of 98 Degrees lost Cincinnati's mayoral primary, but fans of the former boy band have won because the campaign has spurred a reunion.

Jeffre finished Tuesday's nonpartisan primary in fifth place, garnering only 708 or 2 percent of the votes, MTV.com reported.

"I feel good," Jeffre said Wednesday morning. "I think we did well given the lack of coverage that the local media gave my campaign."

High-profile help from Nick Lachey and even a 98 Degrees reunion could not help Jaffe's campaign get noticed, MTV noted.

But a non-singing 98 Degrees reunion at a rally earlier this month got the guys talking and now, Jeffre said, they have plans to reunite in the near future and start working on their next project.

Jeffre warned, however, he has no plans to give up his political aspirations.

"Don't be surprised if in 2009, Justin Jeffre is back in the ring," he said.
