Crew filling up for 'Casino Royale'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- "Million Dollar Baby" writer Paul Haggis has been tapped to write the next film in the James Bond series for Sony and MGM.

The Oscar-nominated Haggis wrote and directed this summer's hit, "Crash," and will be rewriting "Casino Royale" from a draft written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

Martin Campbell will direct "Casino Royale," his second Bond film and the 21st in the successful franchise, the Reporter said.

"Casino Royale" was Ian's Fleming's first Bond novel published in 1953. It was adapted into a 1967 spoof starring Peter Sellers, David Niven, Orson Welles and George Raft.

There's still no word on who will play the dapper Agent 007.
