'Virgin' scores at U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" scored at the U.S. box office, taking in an estimated $20.6 million in its opening weekend.

Another new release, Wes Craven's "Red Eye," finished at No. 2 with $16.5 million, Daily Variety reported..

The third major release of the weekend, the new Disney animated feature "Valiant," opened with just $6.1 million, good for seventh place.

Last week's No. 1, the urban melodrama "Four Brothers," fell to No. 3 this week with an estimated $13 million, followed by "Wedding Crashers" with $8.3 million. The Owen Wilson-Vince Vaughn comedy has grossed $177.9 million in six weeks.

"The March of the Penguins" -- one of the surprise success stories of the 2005 box-office so far -- took in $6.7 million, and has run its overall gross to $48.6 million.
